Fratres: Si linguis hominum loquar, et angelorum, caritatem autem non haveam, factus sum velutaes sonans aut cymbalum tinniens. Et si havuero prophetiam, et noverim mysteria omnia, et omnem scientia: et si hamontes omenm fidem, ita ut montes transferam caritatem autem non havuero, nihil sum. Et si distribero in cibos pauperum omnes facultates meas, et si tradidero corpus meum, ita ut ardeam, caritatem autem non havuero, nihil mihi prodest. Caritas patiens est, benigna est: Caritas non aemulaatur, non agit perperam, non inflatur, non est ambitiosa, non quaerit quaesua sunt, non irritatru, no cogitat malum, non gaudet super iniquitate, congaudent autem veritati: omnia speat, omnia credit omnia sperat, omnia sutinet. Nunc autem manent, fides, spees caritas tria haec: major autem horum est caritas.   Brethren, If I speak wih the tongues of men and of Angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. And if I should have prophecy, and should know all mysteries and all knowledge: and if I should have all faith so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And if I should disribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity is patient, is kind: Charity envieth not, dealing not perversely, is not puffed up, is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil, rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth: beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void, or tongues shall cease, or knowledge shall be destroyed. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But when I became a man, I put away the things of a child. We see now through a glass in a dark manner: but then face to face. Now I know in part: but then I shall know even as I am known. And now there remain faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

In illo tempore: Loquebatur Jesus principibus sacerdotum et pharisaeis in paraboplis, dicens: Simile factum est regnum coelorum homini regi, qui ffecit nuptias filio suo. Et misit servos suos vocare invitatos ad nuptias et nolebant venire. Iterum misit alios servo, dicens: Dicite invitatis: Ecce prandium meum paravi, tauri mei et altilia occisa sunt, et omnia parata: venire ad nuptias. Illi autem neglexerunt: et abierunt, alius in villam suam, alius vero ad negotiationem suam: reliqui vero tenuerunt servos ejus, et contumeliis affectos occiderunt. Rex autem cum audisset, iratus est: et missis exercitibus suis, perdidit homicidas illos, et civitatem illorum succendit. Tunc ait servis: Nuptiae quidem paratae sunt, sed qui invitati erant, non fuerunt digni. Ite ergo ad exitus viarum, et quoscumque inveneritis, vocate ad nuptias. Et egressi servi ejus in vias, congrergaverunt manes, quos invenerunt, malos et bonos: et impletae sunt nuptiae discumbentium. Intravit autem rex, ut videret discumbentium. Intravit autem rex, ut videret discumbentes, et vidit ibi hominem non vestitum veste nuptiali. Et ait illi: Amice, quomodo hoc intrasti non haven vestem nuptialem? At ille obmutuit. Tunc dixit rex ministris: Ligatis manibus et pedibus ejus, mittite eum in tenbras exteriore: ibi erit fletus, et stridor dentium. Multi enim sunt vocati, pauci vero electi. At that time, Jesus spoke to the chief priests and the Pharisees in parables, saying: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a king, who made a marriage for his son; and he sent his servants, to call them that were invited to the marriage, and they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying: Tell them that were invited: Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come ye to the marraige. But they neglected; and went their way, one to his farm, and another to his merchandise; and the rest laid hands on his servants, and having treated them contumeliously, put them to death. But when the king had heard of it, he was angry; and sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers,and burnt their city. Then he saith to his servants: The marraige indeed is ready, but they that were invited were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as you shall find, call to the marraige. And his servants going forth into the ways, gathered together all that they found, both bad and good; and the marraige was filled with guests. And the king went in to see the guests, and he saw there a man who had not on a wedding garment: and he saith to him: Friend, how camest thou in hither, not having on a wedding garment? but he was silent. Then the king said to the waiters: Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the exterior darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.

   Vere dignum et justum est, aequum et salutare, nos tibi semper, et ubique gratias agere: Domine sancte, Pater omnipotens, aeterne Deus: per Christum Dominum nostrum.
