O God, Who didst enable blessed Irenaeus, Thy Martyr and Bishop to overcome heresies by the truth of doctrine and happily to establish peace in the Church: we beseech Thee, give to Thy people constancy in holy religion; and grant us Thy peace in our time. Through our Lord.

epistle
II Tim 3:14-17; 4:1-5
Tu vero vigila, in omnibus labora opus fac Evangelistae, ministerium tuum imple.   Dearly beloved: Continue thou in those things which thou hast learned, and which have been committed to thee: knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And because from thy infancy thou hast known the holy scriptures, which can instruct thee to salvation, by the faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice, That the man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work. I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom: Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine. For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables.

Ps. 121:8, 36:37
For my brethren's and my neighbors' sake I spoke peace concerning thee. Keep innocence, and behold equity; for to a man who loves peace there are things that remain over.
alleluia
Ecclus. 6:35
Alleluia, alleluia. Alleluia.   Alleluia, alleluia.  Stand the multitude of the prudent priest, and from thy heart join thyself to their wisdom, that thou mayest hear ever discourse of God. Alleluia.
gospel
Mt. 10:28-32
Nolite ergo timere multis passeribus meliores estis vos. Omnis ergo, qui confitebitur me coram hominibus, confitebor et ego eum coram Patre meo, qui in coelis est. At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: Fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Fear not therefore: better are you than many sparrows. Every one therefore that shall confess me before men, I will also confess him before my Father who is in heaven.
offertory
Ecclus. 24:44
My doctrine I shall make to shine for all like the dawn at morn, and will declare it afar off.
Secret(s)
O God, Who sufferest no the nations who believe in Thee to be overwhelmed by any terror: vouchsafe to receive the prayers and oblations of Thy people that of Thy mercy Thou wouldst grant peace, and make safe the borders of Christendom against ever enemy. Through our Lord.

Preface
The Common Preface
Cum quibus et nostras voces ut admitti jubeas, deprecamur supplici confessione dicentes:   It it truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, holy Lord, Father almighty, eternal God, through Christ our Lord: through Whom Angels praise Thy Majesty, Dominations worship, Powers stand in awe: the Heavens and the host of heaven with blessed Seraphim unite, exult and celebrate and we entreat that Thou wouldst bid our voices also to be heard with theirs, singing with lowly praise:

Ecclus. 24:47
Videte quoniam no soli mihi laboravi, sed omnibus exquirentibus veritatem. See ye, that I have not labored for myself only but for all that seek out the truth.
postcommunion(s)
O God, the Author and Lover of peace, Whom to know is to live, Whom to serve is to reign Thy suppliant people from all assaults, that we who put out trust in Thy defense, through the intercession of blessed Irenaeus, Thy Martyr and Bishop, may not fear the power of any adversary. Through our Lord.
